Hi, my name is Donald and I’m a trainee integrative counsellor, which means I can combine different approaches tailored to you and your needs. Beginning a counselling relationship is an important first step and I’m here to listen and support you in whatever is going on in your life. Whether you’re struggling with something specific or searching for answers to something bigger, your own sense of self-worth and acceptance can be what really matter most. My core theoretical approach is humanistic, combining person-centred and gestalt approaches while respecting your pace and personal needs. Your trust and safety will always be of the utmost importance and will serve to move our relationship forward in a way that you feel most comfortable. My role is to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and help you move forward in a meaningful way from where you are now. I am an LGBTQ+ counsellor with many years of lived experience in the community and have a particular interest in working with those who may be exploring their identity and wanting to work through whatever thoughts and feelings that may bring. Having volunteered with the Samaritans prior to beginning my counselling training, I also have experience of supporting people in emotional crisis and will always work alongside you with empathy and respect. I am currently a student member of the BACP while working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and adhere to its ethical guidelines.
