May Ghaghda

May Ghaghda is a trainee counsellor currently completing a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. She offers a calm, empathic, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. She places strong importance on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, believing this to be central to meaningful and lasting change. She works from an integrative, humanistic perspective, drawing primarily on person-centred theory, which is client-led and values the individual as the expert in their own life. Where helpful, she also incorporates psychodynamic ideas to support clients in exploring patterns, relationships, and past experiences that may be influencing present difficulties. Her approach is collaborative and responsive, adapting to each client’s unique needs, personality, and goals. Alongside May’s counselling training, she has a background in mindfulness and meditation teaching, which informs her therapeutic work. With over 20 years’ experience in conference and events management, particularly within CPD-led professional development, she brings a strong understanding of learning processes, reflective practice, and the pressures of demanding professional environments. Mindfulness and meditation played a central role in supporting her own wellbeing, leading her to train as a meditation teacher with the British School of Meditation. She now teaches practical, accessible mindfulness, helping individuals understand how stress affects the mind and body, and how grounding techniques and present-moment awareness can support calm, resilience, and meaningful change. Her approach is secular, compassionate, and focused on recognising the balance between fight-or-flight and rest-and-digest responses. May welcomes clients presenting with a wide range of issues and life experiences and aims to offer a supportive space for whatever they may wish to bring to therapy. She is a registered student member of the BACP and works in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, including regular supervision. She also speaks Gujarati and welcomes clients who feel more comfortable working in that language.
