Hello, I’m Gareth, a student counsellor and BACP member currently working towards my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I offer a warm, grounded, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and begin to make sense of what feels heavy, confusing, or stuck. My approach is person-centred, which means our work is led by you. I won’t diagnose, direct, or tell you who to be. Instead, I focus on building a relationship that feels safe, respectful, and real, because meaningful change often begins when you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and not alone with what you’re carrying. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable, especially if you’re used to keeping it together or talking yourself out of how you feel. I understand how daunting it can be to start counselling. I first stepped into the therapy room myself over five years ago, and I hold deep respect for the courage it takes to show up in this space. Before training as a counsellor, I spent 15 years working in finance supporting people through financial hardship and high-pressure life circumstances. I supported through fear, shame, conflict, overwhelm, and the emotional weight of feeling trapped. That experience shaped my ability to stay steady in difficult moments, listen beneath the words, and respond with empathy and care. I welcome clients who want support with stress and anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries, relationships, and life transitions. If you’re looking for a counsellor who is approachable, grounded, and emotionally attuned, I’d be glad to hear from you.
