Farah Gulmohamed

Hi, my name is Farah. My life experiences have taught me how to sit with others in their darkness and distress without judgement. I understand how difficult it can be to open up when you’ve spent years holding everything together, meeting expectations or keeping up a strong front. This can leave you feeling like you’re living on auto-pilot.

Before training in counselling, I worked as a solicitor for 25 years, so I understand the pressures of demanding careers and the toll they can take. As a mother and Childline Counsellor, I understand the complexities of family life and the challenges young people face. I volunteer supporting people navigating addiction, relapse and recovery, so I know that healing is rarely a linear journey.

I aim to offer you a safe and calm emotional space to explore together what’s going on for you without pressure or expectation. I bring genuineness, compassion, empathy and curiosity.

My practice is person-centred, meaning you set the pace. You bring what feels important. I can offer reflections and insights, when invited, to support your self-awareness and make sense of your inner world. If you want to look at deeper patterns or past experiences, we can. If you prefer to stay with what’s happening right now, that’s okay too. What matters most is the connection between us and that you feel supported, not alone.

I’m not here to fix or rescue, but to enable you to draw on your own resilience and inner resources.

I can help with differing anxieties, mood disorders and depression, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work-related stress and burnout, addictions, trauma, bereavement, life transitions, questions around identity.

I am working towards a BACP-accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered student member of the BACP. I work under regular supervision and follow ethical guidelines.
