If you’re reading this, it’s probably not been a spur-of-the-moment search. Deciding to start therapy can be one of the hardest steps to take, and it may have taken a lot just to be here.
Maybe you’re not used to talking about yourself, or it’s your first time seeking out help. Whether you have a clear goal for what you’d like to discuss, or you’re unsure where you’d start and simply need some support, it’s very common to come to counselling feeling uncomfortable and not knowing what to expect.
As a trainee counsellor, I work with clients while being supported by regular professional supervision. I’m a level 4 therapeutic counselling student, studying at a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited program. Working inside the BACP ethical framework, I provide a confidential space where you can talk it through, and where you will be met with care and respect. I work primarily in a person-centred approach, which means the sessions are centred around what you need. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, and you won’t be analysed or given quick fix solutions, but you’ll be given support to help you find your own way forward. It can be rare to have a space where you can speak openly without judgement or fear of getting it wrong. Therapy offers an opportunity to say how you really feel, and talk honestly about what has been going on in your life.
