David Gillespie

Hi, I’m David. I’m a trainee counsellor currently working towards my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I work in a person-centred way, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to judge, diagnose, or tell you what to do, but to offer a warm, honest and accepting space where you can begin to understand yourself more fully.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, lost, overwhelmed, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating. You might be struggling with relationships, low self-esteem, anxiety, grief, identity, work stress, or a feeling that life has become smaller than it should be. You do not need to have the right words or a clear explanation before beginning. We can start with whatever feels present for you.

My aim is to offer a calm, thoughtful and accepting space where we can explore your experience at your pace. I am interested in how people make sense of themselves, how early messages and expectations can shape us, and how therapy can help you reconnect with your own feelings, needs and values. I will not tell you who to be or what choices to make, but I will be alongside you as you begin to understand yourself more clearly.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent many years in professional environments that required careful listening, reflection and working with people through pressure and uncertainty. I bring that groundedness into my counselling work, alongside warmth, curiosity and respect.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you do not have to have everything figured out before you begin.
