Michael Bacon

I am a neurodivergent practitioner and world traveller who has lived nearly half his life outside the UK. If my experiences have taught me anything, it is that everyone comes from their own unique context and the best results come from meeting each as an individual, with their own unique need, concerns, and ways of encountering the world
I am passionate about the therapeutic space. I think of it as a space of calm, warmth and safety, one where we can explore our feelings without fear of judgement or pressure to conform. When the right conditions are created, the effect can be transformative, helping us connect with ourselves and grow stronger, even in the face of adversity. My goal is to create those conditions for my clients.
To that end, I use a person-centred approach to counselling. This means my approach is focused on listening, understanding and empathising. Person-centred counsellors believe it is essential clients feel they have the counsellor’s unconditional support, with no judgement. We believe that you are the expert in your life. As a counsellor, my role is not to impose my ideas on you, but to facilitate healing and growth by helping you work through your emotions.
I am a member of the BACP and am currently working towards the SEG Awards Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My twelve year background in education and teaching gives me experience in fostering positive relationships based on respect and personal growth.
