Alvaro Castellano

Hello, I’m Alvaro, a trainee integrative counsellor currently completing a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Sometimes we may find ourselves in challenging situations where we recognise that helping ourselves also means reaching out for support. In my experience, therapy can become a very valuable resource in those moments. I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and at your own pace.
I work in an integrative way, mainly combining humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. This means we may explore how past experiences and relationships may be connected to your current experiences, while also paying attention to what is going on for you in the here and now and in the therapeutic relationship. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to develop understanding, awareness and change that is meaningful for you.
Sessions with me tend to feel relaxed and natural. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable to talk, reflect and explore whatever you would like to bring, without pressure or expectations. We will move at your pace, and my hope is that you feel heard, understood and able to speak openly.
Alongside my counselling training, I bring experience as a performer, educator and support worker for people with learning disabilities. I am also a queer, neurodivergent person living with disabilities myself, which grounds my practice in cultural humility and shapes my understanding of identity, difference and the challenges people from different walks of life may face.
I am a registered student member of the BACP and I offer sessions in both English and Spanish.

After years of navigating significant change across borders and cultures, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about never struggling, it’s about finding your own balance. That understanding sits at the heart of how I work, where the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a safe vehicle for insight and change. I believe safety is felt, moment by moment, in the quality of the relationship between us, and creating that, especially early on, is something I take seriously.
I work from an Integrative model, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic and existential approaches, and I bring a coaching background that supports a more solution-focused strand when that’s what is needed. Rather than applying a fixed method, I tailor my practice to you, your story, your personality, and what feels most useful. I also pay attention to what the body holds, and may gently invite that awareness into our work when it feels right.
My interests include anxiety, depression, burnout, work-life conflict, generational trauma and significant life transitions. My own mixed heritage and multicultural background, combined with a career in technical leadership in the energy sector bring a diverse perspective to the counselling room and a lived understanding of high-pressure environments and the cost of putting oneself last. Clinical experience within NHS Talking Therapies adds further insight into how stress, change and loss show up in people’s lives.
I’m working towards a Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited), hold additional certification in Mental Health and Wellbeing, and am a BACP student member. I offer sessions in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Gabriel Cabral

Gabriel is a trainee integrative counsellor currently completing the Diploma in Integrative Counselling at The Awareness Centre.
Alongside his training, Gabriel has worked as a key worker supporting clients who struggle with drug and sex addiction. This role has deepened his understanding of addiction, shame, attachment wounds, identity, and the complexity of behavioural coping strategies. He brings both professional experience and lived insight into recovery, allowing him to sit with clients in a way that is compassionate, non-judgmental, and honest.
Gabriel is particularly interested in LGBTQ topics, immigration, feminism, terminal illness, sexual abuse survivors, social equality, and drug addiction recovery. His integrative stance values relational depth, empathy, and congruence, while also engaging critically with theory and its limitations.
He aims to offer a space where clients feel genuinely heard, emotionally safe, and empowered to explore their internal world at their own pace.

You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You might not have the right words or a clear label for what you’re feeling and that’s okay. Therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and begin making sense of things, especially if something inside you is saying, “This isn’t working anymore.”
You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in old patterns. Perhaps you’re navigating a transition, facing challenges in relationships, or struggling with self-worth. Whatever you’re carrying, I offer a supportive space where we can explore it together.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and holistic. I pay attention to your thoughts, emotions, body, nervous system, and how we relate in the room. I draw on both humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives, informed by neuroscience and mind-body practices. I’m also a certified yoga teacher and health coach, I can help you reconnect with yourself not just intellectually, but emotionally and physically.
With over 20 years in the corporate world, I understand the toll of constant pressure and responsibility. This experience informs how I support clients who look fine on the outside but are struggling within. Having lived and worked across countries, I also understand the complexities of identity, belonging, and cultural transitions.
I am a trainee currently completing my Msc in Integrative Psychotherapy in Metanoia. I aim to bring grounded, calm presence to our sessions. If you’re looking for someone who will meet you with curiosity, care, and respect, I may be a good fit for you. I work in English, French, and Spanish.
